“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” 2 Timothy 4:2

The man of God is called to preach the word with the eyes of Christ watching. In a world where we are constantly showered with any number of manmade messages, it is comforting to know that Mt. Bethel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church is blessed with a God called preacher.

Our pastor can always be recognized as a preacher that exalts Christ and one that rightly divides the word with laser like precision.

He carries a burden for people and their plight. He ministers with the love and compassion of Christ.

Dr. Battley is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. and M.Ed.

He received the M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the D.Min from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary.

He is a retired educator with over 30 years of experience from the Caddo Parish School System. This includes 9 years as a classroom teacher, 16 years as an administrator and 5 years as an Instructional Supervisor for Social Studies.

Dr. Battley has served as pastor of the Mt. Bethel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church since 1985.

He is the father of two sons, Toussaint Battley III, DNP, and Reuben Battley, M.D. In addition, he is the loving grandfather of two grandchildren.

As a member of the Thirteenth District Missionary Baptist Association, he served as past Vice Moderator. He is a member of the Louisiana Baptist State Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

Dr. Battley is a past member of Phi Delta Kappa and a lifetime member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
